My Three Words

Lately, I’ve been reading Amazing Things Will Happen, a book written by my marketing professor, C.C. Chapman, full of his tips for personal success and happiness. This in and of itself is a miracle because, quite frankly, I don't read much at all. It takes a lot to captivate me and hold my attention, and this book does it for me.

One of the exercises C.C. suggests is to find three words that will guide you for a year, encompassing everything you do. You start with a list of all the things you do, then categorize them, and eventually come up with three categories. From there, it is about choosing the best three words to describe the three categories and sharing them with friends to keep yourself accountable.

My three words this year are Self-Mastery, Momentum, and Dream.

  1. Self-Mastery: I will get rid of a lot of bad habits to be happier, more productive, and, in turn, more impactful to people.

  2. Momentum: I will let nothing get in the way of the progress I’ve made so far, keeping everything that I have started like my Instagram going strong

  3. Dream: Lastly, I will learn to put my dream first, and allow it to guide my decisions as I transition from college to the life of… whatever I am.

If you don’t read the book, I would suggest just taking some time and thinking about the three words that mean the most to you. Maybe, just maybe, you’ll end up feeling more focused and determined to follow what you love too.
